Communist Party of East Bengal (ML) on the Martyrdom of Comrade Basavaraj

We hereby share a statement that we have received.

“Now is not the time to be sad, comrades, it is time to rise up like fire!” – Charu Mazumdar

Communist Party of East Bengal (ML) pays tribute to the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), immortal comrade Nambala Keshav Rao (Basavaraj) and all martyred revolutionary comrades.

On 21 May 2025, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), Comrade Nambala Keshav Rao aka Basavaraj, along with 28 other brave comrades (Comrade Nageshwar Rao (Madhu) Jung Naveen, Sangeeta, Bhumika, Vivek, Chandan, Guddu, Rame, Lalsu, Suria, Mase, Kamala, Nagesh, Ragho, Rajesh, Ravi, Sunil, Sarita, Reshma, Raju, Jamuna, Geeta, Hungi, Sanki, Bajra, Nilesh, Sanju and one more comrade) was immortalized in the struggle to establish an independent People’s Democratic Dictatorship under the leadership of the working class in neo-colonial India.

While the CPI(Maoist) Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee provided a peaceful environment for talks with the government after the ceasefire was declared, the state and central governments surrounded the entire area with soldiers, paramilitary forces, intelligence police and special forces equipped with the latest technology and launched an all-out air-land assault and killed the Naxalist leaders. We strongly condemn this cowardly attack and massacre and also offer our heartfelt condolences to all our martyred comrades who lost their lives.

The servants of imperialism are trying to prevent the revolution by carrying out massacres. This is not possible. Because the heroic warriors of the international proletariat in India are inspired by the ideology of Chairman Mao. Chairman Mao said, “The people of the world must be brave. They must have the courage to fight and must not fear any difficulties. When the people in front fall, the people behind will follow.” In this way, the world will become human and all demons will be eliminated. These heroes are the students of the great teacher comrade Charu Mazumdar, the first successful practitioner in India, the architect of the first social revolution carried out by the proletariat, the creator of the historical Naxalbari. He said, “The way of bloodshed is the only way!We will pay the price for the liberation of the people. Every blow that is dealt to us is painful. And from pain comes the determination to make the greatest sacrifice and the fiercest hatred for the enemy. When these two things come together with the ideology of Chairman Mao (Maoism), then that new man is created; the man that all the oppressed people of India, the millions of poor and landless peasants of the country have been eagerly waiting for.The day these poor and landless peasants give birth to that new human being, the whole of India will wipe away all their tears and laugh. A very powerful life will flow all over India, it will shine like a bright star, it will enlighten our country and the whole world. The India of our dreams will come true with the sacrifice of many people. Each of these deaths is as heavy as a mountain. Because they were much greater people than us, so their deaths will create millions of lives. So the dust of this road must be soaked with tears and strengthened with blood.”

So comrades, “Now is not the time to be sad comrades, it is time to rise like fire!” We, the Communist Party of East Bengal (ML), believe that the New Democratic Revolution will be successful. By doing this, we will avenge the massacre of revolutionaries all over the world. Every death gives birth to a new life; we will continue to fight for the glorious news of the new harvest that these 28 life sacrifices will create and for a united socialist India. Martyr comrades are immortal!
